Since 2018, Foundation has identified and supported the biotechnology industry’s future leaders and entrepreneurs; seeks the latest Class of Termeer Fellows to join the ranks of emerging biotech executives
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., (December 14, 2021) – The Termeer Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on connecting life science innovators and catalyzing the creation of new medicines, today announced that nominations for the class of 2022 Henri Termeer Fellowship are being accepted and opened its application process. The application process will close on February 15th, 2022.
The Henri Termeer Fellowship is awarded each year to up-and-coming company founders, CEOs or heads of life science organizations who are committed to developing medicines and medical technologies that have the potential to deliver life-changing treatments to patients. Recipients are often early in their leadership career trajectory, such as first-time CEOs or senior company executives, and understand the value of establishing professional relationships and community networks that will help foster their own professional growth. Termeer Fellows place a high priority on learning from others and serving as mentors to those individuals in a similar position. Future biotechnology leaders who qualify and are selected as a Termeer Fellow will receive membership in The Henri Termeer Network, an ever-expanding group of emerging and established healthcare leaders who pool their collective experience to advance cures. Additional Fellowship benefits include quarterly mentor presentations, monthly peer-to-peer learning opportunities, individual 1:1 mentoring, and access to other industry events and initiatives sponsored by The Termeer Foundation.
“Since its inception in 2018, The Henri Termeer Fellowship Program has quickly become the hallmark of the Foundation. The extraordinarily talented individuals that we have supported with this initiative continue to evolve along with the companies that they lead,” said Catharine Smith, Executive Director, The Termeer Foundation. “The program identifies and supports emerging leaders who are among the best and brightest in the biotechnology sector. The Foundation is committed to helping companies develop medicines that may someday lead to cures and recognizing the ongoing investment it takes to nurture tomorrow’s leaders who may help in reaching these ground-breaking treatments.”
All applicants for the Henri Termeer Fellows Class of 2022 must complete an online application by February 1, 2022 that can found here. Notifications of acceptance will be sent in April 2022.
Potential Fellows are reviewed by The Termeer Foundation Board of Directors and a rotating group of mentor volunteers. Applicants will offer information that includes: Professional background and accomplishments, academic milestones, professional designations, plus a personal video essay endorsing their selection. Notifications on acceptance and non-acceptance will be sent out in April 2022. The Termeer Foundation is committed to ensuring the inclusiveness of its Fellowship program, particularly in recognition of the underrepresentation of women and Black, Brown and Indigenous People of Color at the CEO level within the biopharmaceutical industry.
“The level of access and support I’ve received from the Termeer Fellowship has been amazing,” said Tina Liu, CEO & Co-founder of Skylark Bio. “The Board, mentors, guest speakers, and peer Fellows are all personally, deeply familiar with the unique challenges of building a biotech company. It’s a fantastic community to go to for help, not to mention perspective and inspiration.”
